Kat's Feud with Ralph Lauren
A few weeks ago, when Kat first arrived at Lisa's house, Kat was reading the latest juicy biography on her dear friend, Ralph Lauren. She had just spent the weekend with him and his family and a variety of other well known personalities. At that time, Ralph had promised to send Kat yet another of his outfits, custom made and tailored just for Kat! Kat hoped the outfit would be there when she and Lisa returned from Scottsdale.
Kat was delighted to see it was indeed waiting for her!!!
Taking the outfit from the box, Kat marveled at the craftsmanship of Lauren's best seamstresses! This outfit was classic! She absolutely loved it!
She especially loved that Ralph put his signature logo on the blazer breast pocket!
The plaid purse was a bonus that Kat wasn't expecting at all! How thoughtful of Ralph!
Kat admires the inside finishing of the coat, with it's standard Ralph Lauren label... Although this outfit was an OOAK from Ralph, Kat always requested that he put his labels in her OOAK's so no one would think she had specially designed outfits. Let them think they're from an exclusive department store!
Kat starts to try on the outfit. Something's WRONG! The pants are way too big and bulky. Even with Kat's highest heels, the length is too long. Kat couldn't understand... Ralph had her measurements and a mannequin perfectly proportioned to her size. How could the fit of the pants be so awful!
Kat tries on the blazer. It's too big too! The shoulders are too wide. The waist isn't small enough. The fit is rotten!
With little hope left, Kat tries on the coat. It's way too big. The whole outfit is a bust! Kat decides to call Ralph immediately to inquire about the terrible fit! Before she gets to the phone, Lisa, grinning wickedly, stops Kat and asks Kat to "come look at something." Kat's in no mood for Lisa and her "rules and regulations", but fearing more poop duty, Kat complies.
Lisa shows Kat a box from Bloomingdales with Ralph's Logo on the front. Kat suspects nothing... Bloomingdales and Ralph have had a long-standing relationship and Ralph even occasionally gives Bloomies an exclusive to sell.
Laughing, Lisa opens the box. Kat is horrified! That looks just like her "exclusive" from Ralph!
She's laughing so hard, Lisa has tears rolling down her cheeks as she pulls the doll and outfit from the box. Kat's is seething. It's bad enough that her "good friend" Ralph, sent her a Ready-to-Wear outfit, but to have Lisa throw it in her face is too much!
Lisa pulls out the coat and shows Kat that the outfit, supposedly custom made for her, fits the Barbie model perfectly! Ralph didn't even bother to have his seamstresses cut down the outfit to Kat's measurements! Kat is steamed! With one phone call, Kat can seek her revenge! How dare Ralph humiliate her like this! She'll get him.
Kat's phone call gives her what she wants. Just in time for the evening edition of USA Today, Kat's revenge is complete!
Kat sits back, relaxed again. Ralph should've known better. Especially since Kat has very close friends that basically run the media throughout the world! Kat vows to be quietly dismissive of Ralph's future designs. Her absence from his shows will speak volumes. Kat needs to think.... what designer does she feel like promoting now? She's well aware of her influence in the fashion community. Everyone KNOWS that with a single phrase, sometimes merely a glance, Kat can MAKE or BREAK a designer's career!
